Overview

Bali Timbungan stands as a notable beacon for those seeking an authentic taste of Balinese cuisine, nestled conveniently on Jl. Sunset Road in the vibrant heart of Kuta. As a traditional Balinese restaurant, it delivers a distinct culinary experience centered around regional flavors and local ingredients that tell the story of Bali’s rich food heritage.

The restaurant's ambiance strikes a balance between elegance and comfort, creating an inviting space suitable for both intimate dinners and family gatherings. Its well-designed dining area exudes a sense of warmth without overwhelming formality, making it accessible for travelers and locals alike who appreciate a thoughtful presentation alongside genuine hospitality.

Central to the menu are standout dishes such as Bebek Timbungan — a roasted duck variant that is a signature centerpiece — and Ayam Betutu, a spiced chicken marinated in traditional Balinese seasonings. These dishes showcase the depth of Balinese flavors, characterized by rich spices and meticulous preparation methods. The menu also highlights seafood options like the Kerang Bumbu Kacang and the unusual pairing of Bebek Timbungan & Sate Lilit Ikan, which reflect both the island’s maritime heritage and culinary creativity.

For those with a sweet tooth, the Pisang Goreng Panas Dingin — fried bananas served with a cold vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce — draws high praise for its perfect harmony of textures and flavors, offering a satisfying conclusion to a savory meal. Complementing the food is a range of beverages, including a refreshing Coconut Mocktail, enhancing the tropical dining atmosphere.

Service at Bali Timbungan is generally well regarded, with professional staff eager to share knowledge about menu items and Balinese food culture. This attentiveness adds to the overall dining experience, making first-time visitors and regulars feel equally welcomed.

While the majority of diners leave with a memorable impression of rich flavors and genuine hospitality, taste perceptions can vary; some find the duck's unique aroma a bit unfamiliar, illustrating how deeply regional culinary nuances can affect expectations.

In summary, Bali Timbungan is ideal for food lovers who want to immerse themselves in Bali’s culinary traditions within a comfortable yet refined setting. Its location on bustling Sunset Road ensures easy access, making it a practical choice for tourists exploring Kuta as well as locals craving authentic Balinese fare with a modern touch.

Nice restaurant with a proper dining area, it feels quite fancy and comfortable. The service was okay as well. The downside for me was the food. The duck had a bit of a strange taste (kinda smelly and amiiiis ), which made it a bit ugh. Maybe it’s a matter of personal taste, but I honestly expected more from the food

What we ordered for 2 pax: - Water Spinach served with plecing sambal - Balinese yellow seafood soup: very generous with the sotong, fish and mushroom - Goreng Pisang served with vanilla ice cream: love the caramel sauce. Not overly sweet and the fried banana is pretty crispy - Chicken Satay: grilled well and meat was well marinated - Ayam betutu: spiced marinated chicken. Hmmm very different from the usual Ayam Bakar we can get in SG. Acquired taste but it gets nicer as you eat it My favourite dish is goreng pisang HAHA service staff are really nice and welcoming.

A Culinary Treasure in Bali - Bali Timbangan Resto If you’re in Bali and craving an authentic Balinese dining experience that will linger on your taste buds and your memories, Bali Timbangan Resto is an absolute must-visit. We ordered a little feast and every bite told a story. Mujair Nyat-Nyat perfectly marinated, rich in traditional spices, and slow-cooked until the flavors seeped deep into the tender fish. It’s not just a dish, it’s a soulful Balinese embrace. Bebek Timbungan the showstopper! A rare, royal dish usually reserved for ceremonies. The duck was unbelievably tender, infused with herbs and spices, and steamed in bamboo to perfection. It’s a flavor explosion that dances between earthy, spicy, and aromatic. Nasi Goreng Vegetarian simple but sensational. With mushroom skewers,Loaded with fresh vegetables, kissed with smoky wok aroma, and topped with the perfect crunch. A comfort dish done right. And don’t skip the Cemceman refreshing, zesty, and uniquely Balinese. It’s the kind of drink that cools you down and wakes up your senses. The ambiance? Lush, peaceful, and full of charm like dining in a secret garden with the warm hospitality of old Bali. Every dish felt like it was prepared with love, passed down from generations, and served with pride. We didn’t just eat we experienced Bali. Highly, highly recommended.
